Caveman Bridge

This photo was taken on Caveman Bridge in Grants Pass, Oregon. It was built in 1931 and is currently under renovation by the Dept. of Transportation. Even though it’s too narrow for a standard wheelchair to cross safely (Jacob’s chair is not of standard width), the Dept. of Transportation has no plans to increase the width of the walkway as provided for under the ADA with all new construction. Update: This item was originally posted under All People Together’s, A Ramp to Nowhere. After a law suit was filed against DOT, the Caveman Bridge was retrofitted to include wheelchair accessibility.
